Shirley Keeble - artist in water-colour, mixed media and acrylics. Shirley has had a life long interest in art and flowers. In particular, wild flowers in the fields, woods and hedgerows. Working from her rural surroundings, sketching, taking notes then usually completing the painting in her studio. The landscapes and still-life paintings often include a mixture of the imaginary within the reality to enhance the drama of the scene, mood or colour.
A past member of the Society of Botanical Artists, elected to membership in 1986 and also of the United Society of Artists in 1988. The British Water Colour Society awarded Shirley the Silver medal for the 'Britain in Bloom' Exhibition of 1990 and in 1992, the Osbourne Butler Award. In 1994 was again 'Highly Commended' for her flower painting entries.
The artist has exhibited widely in this country since 1982 and has works in private collections in the UK, France, USA, Cyprus, Brunei, Saudi Arabia and in New York as part of a collection shown by an English patron of flower painting.
Shirley has had many of her paintings reproduced by publishing companies as cards, calendars and limited edition prints. (see 'Exhibitions')
